This Volvo 122 was spotted on a tree-lined suburban Eugene street in August 2009. It was originally one of three very similar cars (two drivable Volvos and one parts car) that I first spotted in the early 1990s. The parts car and second drivable Volvo are long gone, but this one still remains, as a testament to the reliability, durability and long life of the pre-Ford takeover Volvo.
The red paint appears original, as does just about everything else, and this car is a great example of a "survivor" car (unrestored, well-preserved original) and thus shouldn't be restored. A set of the forthcoming new "Pacific Wonderland" Oregon plates or restored year-of-manufacture vintage Oregon plates, some new tires and a good cleaning would do this car a lot of good.

ReplyDeleteGotta love a Volvo Amazon!
ReplyDeleteAnd apparently, the owner of this particular Amazon does! If you click on the picture of the back of the car, there is a sticker reading "I (heart) my Volvo" in the back window.
